The essence of soil care

Soil conditions directly affect the health, vigor, and longevity of trees and shrubs. Compaction, poor drainage, low organic matter, and nutrient imbalance can all limit root function and stress plants over time. Our soil care approach focuses on supporting the critical root zone so trees and shrubs can perform at their best.

Why it matters

Healthy soil supports better root function, improved stress tolerance, and stronger long-term performance above ground.

Common soil issues

Common issues like compaction, poor drainage, and nutrient deficiencies can severely harm your plants and worsen over time.

Our tailored solutions

We provide effective and practical solutions, tailored to improve your soil and the health of your trees and shrubs.

What our soil care includes

Our comprehensive soil care services are designed to diagnose and address the specific needs of your landscape:

Root-zone evaluation

Soil condition monitoring

Seasonal nutrient support

Mulch recommendations

Moisture and compaction observations

Arborist-guided recommendations based on plant and site needs

Soil Ammendments

Trees often benefit from supplemental nutrients when soil conditions are depleted or imbalanced. Depending on site conditions, we may recommend:

  • Deep root fertilization to deliver nutrients directly to the root zone
  • Granular fertilization where appropriate for the landscape
  • Organic compost or soil amendments to improve soil structure and long-term fertility

Our recommendations are based on the needs of the plant, the soil, and the surrounding landscape.

Root Collar Excavation

Many landscape trees are planted too deeply or develop buried root flares over time. The root flare — where the trunk transitions into the root system — should be visible at the soil surface. When this area is buried, it can lead to poor root development, girdling roots, and long-term decline.

Root collar excavation carefully removes excess soil and debris from around the base of the tree to expose the natural root flare. This allows the tree to function properly and helps identify potential issues such as girdling roots that may affect the tree’s long-term health.

Aeration & Soil Compaction

Compacted soil limits root growth, water infiltration, and oxygen availability. Aeration helps relieve compaction within the root zone, allowing air, water, and nutrients to move more freely through the soil and reach the roots where they are needed.

Benefits you'll see

When your soil is healthy and well-cared for, you'll notice a significant improvement in the vitality of your plants. Expect stronger growth, increased disease resistance, improved aesthetics, and a more resilient landscape overall. A healthy soil foundation leads to thriving trees and shrubs, enhancing the beauty and value of your property.
